"The reports from Ankara and Grand Bassam last night are deeply shocking," said Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Both he and federal government spokesperson Steffen Seibert condemned the attacks in Ankara and Grand Bassam in Côte d’Ivoire in the strongest possible terms. The thoughts of the Chancellor and the German government are with the victims, their families, and those injured in the attacks, they reported. The German government expressed its solidarity with both countries.

Joint action against terrorism

Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier stressed that the fight against terrorism is a joint task for the international community. "Determined and long-term commitment from all sides is the only way to dry up support for terrorism and its brutal apologists," he stressed. All forces that stand up against terrorists will be strongly supported, said Steffen Seibert.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier has confirmed that a German citizen was among those killed in the attack in Côte d’Ivoire.
