Statement by Federal Chancellor Merkel on the events in London

I was sad and shocked to learn of the attacks in London last night. I am thinking of our British friends and everyone in London with sympathy and solidarity. My thoughts are with the victims of the attack and their families. I wish those injured a swift recovery.


We are united today across all borders in horror and grief, but equally in determination. On behalf of Germany, I reiterate that we stand firmly and resolutely shoulder to shoulder with the United Kingdom in the fight against all forms of terrorism.
