Charlemagne Prize goes to Emmanuel Macron Enthusiasm for Europe

French President Emmanuel Macron has been awarded the Charlemagne Prize in the Coronation Hall of Aachen’s Town Hall. He received the prize in recognition of his vision of a new Europe. Even after the withdrawal of the USA from the nuclear agreement with Iran, the heads of state and government of France, the United Kingdom and Germany intend to uphold the agreement. Federal government spokesperson Steffen Seibert reported that Germany regretted the decision of the US President. more

ILA Berlin Symbolic of close cooperation with France

Chancellor Angela Merkel has stressed the importance of Franco-German cooperation in the aerospace sector. Speaking at the opening of the ILA aerospace fair in Berlin, she said that the two countries cooperate particularly closely in the defence sector. Berlin, 15.05.18: On Tuesday the Chancellor was invited to attend the federal congress of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB). The focus was on the labour market challenges posed by digital developments and artificial intelligence.

She urged that regular employment in new digital companies should not be impeded by too many regulations, while stressing, "We don't want to see digital day labourers."

The efforts of the German government to avoid any new borrowing is "anything but self-evident", said the Chancellor.
