The annual informal meeting is to facilitate dialogue on current issues of international economic policy. This year’s guest of honour is the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina.

Berlin, 12/06/2018: European migration policy is the key topic in discussions with the Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz on Tuesday.

There is a willingness "to work closely together with Austria, and help ensure that Europe becomes stronger, that Europe is united," said Merkel.

Berlin, 13/06/2018: "Integration through Sport": the Chancellor saw proof of this in action during a visit to the club SV Rot-Weiß Viktoria Mitte 08 on Wednesday. The visit was on the occasion of the 10th Integration Summit.

After the training session, Merkel was highly impressed by the club's work. "All those who have contributed to the success here deserve our heartfelt thanks."

The focus of the Integration Summit at the Chancellery was on solidarity between people with and without a migrant background. The federal government wants to strengthen this through its "Integration Action Plan".

The existing plan will be developed further. The aim is to recognise what has been achieved, to consolidate integration measures, and to adjust where necessary. States and municipalities, civil society and migrants´ organisations should all be active

The process will run for the entire legislative period. The Federal Government Commissioner for Integration, Minister of State Annette Widmann-Mauz (left), is responsible.

In the afternoon, the Chancellor welcomed Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel. The meeting was in preparation for the European Council at the end of June.

Berlin, 15/06/2018: The main topic at the meeting with the heads of government of the states on Thursday is the asylum and refugee policy, and in particular funding for refugees.

The federal government and the states are making progress regarding funding for 2019. However, the discussions have not yet been finalised. According to Merkel. The talks will continue in August.

Berlin, 15/06/2018: "70 Years of Social Market Economy": hailed by Merkel as "the foundation of our country’s economic success” at the celebration. It remains a priority in our daily work.

The next NATO summit will take place on 11 and 12 July in Brussels. In the afternoon, the Chancellor met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the Federal Chancellery to prepare for the summit.

The award has been given since 1964 to honour those who have strengthened and developed the social market economy. In the afternoon, Chancellor Merkel received the Alexander Rüstow Medal.
