Judicial reform in Poland A chance for the rule of law

During the summer reception held by Rostock Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday, Chancellor Angela Merkel's speech focused on topical economic issues.

The next day the Chancellor visited Kienbaum National Training Centre, where top German athletes train in a number of different disciplines - including the high bar.

Kienbaum is also the main training centre for discus thrower Robert Harting. Angela Merkel praised the work of the centre. "What we see here is successful sport promotion."

At lunchtime the Chancellor welcomed her Royal visitors: Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge visited the Federal Chancellery during their trip to Germany.

From the rooftop terrace of the Federal Chancellery, the Chancellor showed her visitors Berlin's government district and the many sights of Germany's capital city. The Royal couple also visited Heidelberg and Hamburg.
